Good News?

I have been having crippling computer problems all day, so I have no new post for you. Instead I will take a leaf from Father Z's book and throw open the combox. Who has good news to share? My good news is that I have been commissioned to write an article for a great journal.

  1. Something which has been causing me stress and anxiety for over a month is going to completely vanish and be done with on FRIDAY!

  2. Hooray, Seraphic!

I have been having an incredible string of luck at thrift stores lately. Wooly skirts, high-quality sweaters, my favorite authors, and, today, a 5-piece set of teacups, saucers, and dessert places for $2 (US)!

I found the counting error in my embroidery project and it's fixable without too much heartache. I've been keeping to my exercise schedule. And furthermore, I have several exciting social events (not romantic) coming up!

  3. Congrats on the article writing gig!

My long-awaited stereo components arrived today; soon there will be beautiful music in my home again.

  4. Glad to hear about your article! I was an occasional visitor to your blog and have somehow been addicted lately, maybe because I just graduated from college and struck out on my own. So I'm mainly writing to say that I love your blog! I'm planning to buy your book, but you know how the typical twentysomething financial situation is...

  5. After putting it off for literally years, I met with an investment counselor about my retirement plan. It was actually interesting! And it felt super empowering to know that I can make these kinds of decisions on my own, and that I will be much more informed in the future and able to take care of myself. :)

  6. my garden yielded produce! I kill everything I touch but I actually grew real live edible food. And I used it in a recipe I got from my new female friend... and it was good! Everything about what I typed is utterly unbelievable, I know.

    Congrats on the gig. :)

  7. Jam, I love the fact that your good news involves bargains at thrift stores! There is nothing so exciting as a good bargain : D
My good news is that after much thought and prayer, I am going to do the Camino de Santiago! I leave next week!

  9. I am just now looking at nice colourful graphs in a data sheet which had a mistake somewhere I actually found and resolved yesterday (1. I actually discovered there was a mistake, 2. I found out where it lay, 3. it is resolvable). Nice colourful graphs are an important component of the joys of a little grad student.

Additionally, there is the prospect of getting a new employment contract for 4 more months...

  10. I've found & fallen in love with my soulmate, a man who loves Christ and loves me. In August we're heading to Toronto for a weekend so that he can ask my father's permission to propose to me, and we're planning an April wedding.

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. @Adam's rib- it is my dream to do the Camino! I hope to go next summer!

My good news is that in two weeks I'm leaving for World Youth Day in Madrid with a group of teens and young adults from my Diocese. :)

  13. I'm cooking dinner; and I really like cooking! It's great fun, so long as I get to sit down, now and then.

Fettucine, a sauce of sliced saussage simmered with fresh sliced onions and diced tomato; leftover romaine salad on the side.

    Cheers!

  14. @Adam's rib & Jess -- I walked the last 120 km of the French route last year, and my fiance walked 1600km from Le Puy! It's amazing -- I say go for it! (Hint: carry as little stuff as humanly possible, and buy those special anti-blister hiking socks with two layers in the foot part!)

  18. Today I had a second interview with a job I applied for two weeks ago, and they offered it to me at the end, and I start next week! I've been unemployed since I got my master's degree in May, and trying to figure out where God wants me, and apparently he wants me at a great Catholic organization just 90 miles away from my parents and siblings! So I'm pretty excited. :-) It's been a week of great news for a lot of my friends, too (several job offers, two new babies, and a marriage proposal!).

  19. I have a friend visiting from out of town this weekend, and she brought her three very young children. I love hanging out with kids, and it is so nice to catch up with an old friend!

  20. Another good news from me is that a friend lent me her accordion for as long as I want it. I spent a very happy weekend figuring out how it works and learning to play a few simple songs. I love making music!

  21. Mag, I have an accordion too. They are fun instruments aren't they?
