Yes, two amazing Single ladies who lived life to the fullest, despite growing old and fat! Jennifer was a chaste Single, and Clarissa... Er, not so much. Of course they had their demons--Jennifer was a drinking alcoholic, and Clarissa a non-drinking alcoholic---but they were tremendously inspiring! And it is great fun to watch our "Two Fat Ladies" DVD and listen to Jennifer and Clarissa exchange matter-of-fact, in-your-face-Catholic remarks about St. Peter et alia.
How sad that Clarissa has died... I loved that show so much! I still watch it whenever I feel depressed and need my mood lifted. Exploring the secret spots of England, Jennifer and Clarissa's running commentary and no-nonsense approach to cooking, their evident enjoyment of the delights of the earth with a self-depreciating sense of humor...! Very inspirational.
The article you linked to was very good as well in giving a little more background to her life.
