Prism Scandal

Yet another reason to think twice before hitting "Send". I'm horrified. And clued in as to why some people don't like email.

Oh, it's terrible. The same people who told me last year, "No one is monitoring your internet, stop being so paranoid!" is saying this year, "What, did you think they weren't monitoring your internet? Don't be naive!"

I was thinking this was mainly an American issue, but it turns out almost everyone uses services based in the US -- like Blogger, Google, and Facebook. And the US government doesn't feel it has to have any limit or oversight of the spying it does on foreigners.

Sorry for my stupid country.

No, no, no. Don't apologize for your country. I am sure the majority of the American people still feel very strongly in favour of liberty, and it is better for Americans to spy on foreigners than on their own people.

Not that I like the idea of being spied on by random American security agents, of course.

Well, rest assured, I'll be doing my best to vote in people who won't spy on me OR on you, the next time I get a chance to vote.
