Americans, Know Your Version!

Dear American Readers, the American version of my book has already been released, and my Canadian publisher wants you to buy it from the Americans he sold the American rights to. Here is what your version looks like: You can buy it over amazon.com, and I bet you can get it at your diocesan bookshop, too.

Everyone else can keep on buying Cute Cartoon Lady instead of Shoe Lady for yourselves, your friends, your siblings, your cousins, your aunts, your parish priests and your publisher pals in central Europe.

Meanwhile, I am delighted by this marvellous review in the Prairie Messenger by Caitlin Ward. British readers should know that in Canada "cow" is not the mortal insult it is in this sceptered isle, this earth of majesty, this seat of Mars (etc).

I Love your blog, Seraphic.
I cannot wait to read the book. When it will be printed in Brazil? NCB and NCG from all over the world need your assistance.

I love, love, love the cover. But I'm not as thrilled about the title, to be honest. :( And I already bought the Canadian version because I couldn't wait! :P
I hope all the royalties go to the same place!

Just bought the "pretty shoes" version on Lulu.com. (I had a gift credit there).

Larissa, thank you so much! I do not know of plans to translate my book into Portuguese, so you may have difficulty finding it in Brazil. If you can buy the book over Amazon, that is one option. Another is to write to Liguori (American cover) or Novalis (Canadian cover) and order it from them. You might want to add in your email that someone should sell it to a Brazilian Catholic publisher, whoever that is!

Fifi, I know exactly what you mean. I think the problem was that "Seraphic" is a relatively unusual word; interviewers always ask me what it means.

Christine, thank you! Er, lulu? They're selling it over lulu?

You're sure you're getting Seraphic Singles and not one of the funny stories I wrote as Seraphic Single?

I'm with Fifi - much better - nay brilliant - cover, much worse name. Especially in the UK, though am not sure if the connotations are the same in countries which lack the entirely functional word "wardrobe"...

<3 the new cover (and maybe it's just because I love shoes and bright things), but not the name.

Maybe it's because there's some implied pessimism in the title...?

I have to add to the crowd here- love the new cover, but dislike the title and will thus be buying copies for friends from the Canadian publisher. I'm sorry- _who_ did the American publishers consult when choosing a new title? They've clearly missed their target audience if the combox comments and general sentiment are anything to go by...

I know, I know. Nobody asked me. It was all over before I could do anything about it.
