Where Were You?

I wasn't going to say anything about the Papal Abdication, as it is rather OT for this blog and it is more specifically a Catholic thing, but where were you on Thursday night at 8 PM Rome time (7 PM GMT)?

B.A. and I were in a house chapel, hearing Mass. We and our friends all seem to have different opinions of what was going on with the hall clock chimed seven o'clock. I think we were singing the Agnes Dei, but I could be wrong. My thoughts were all over the place.

Afterwards we went to a dinner party to celebrate the pontificate. It was splendid, and it certainly cheered me up.

I am afraid that I wasn't doing anything particularly spiritual or pope-related. I was grading my Latin classes' final exams. The pope was on my mind, but with 7 hours of grading needing to be done, I couldn't do much to commemorate him at that moment.

I was making pizza dough in preparation for a make-your own pizza early dinner party.

Has anyone else adopted a cardinal? (http://www.adoptacardinal.org/) Lisa Hendley posted about it a few days ago, and I've been praying for Leonardo Cardinal Sandri in this time of sede vacante.

I've adopted a Spanish cardinal. :-)

I was in my room, contemplating that I should be working on my paper, but really worn out. I waited til 2pm EST and then texted "sede vacante" to my Mom who texted back a prayer... so nothing too exciting but I'm avoiding Facebook for Lent so about all I could manage without being around other Catholics.

My school has weekly Mass at 2 pm EST every Thursday, so we gathered in the gym a few minutes early to pray for the Pope. It was so strange not to hear his name in the Mass prayers when less than an hour ago we had had a pope.

I had just left noon Mass and was at a lunch meeting with some ministry colleagues- all Catholic - so we paused for a moment as the Sede Vacante began. God bless the Pope Emeritus!

I too have adopted a cardinal- what a great idea!

I was singing in my show Party Worth Crashing - the extreme contrast did not escape me! In the words of one of the songs we sang:
The earth keeps turning, the light keeps shifting, and I keep holding on...
