Attention Again D.C. Readers

Hello, dear readers of Washington, D.C.! I have had an email from a new girl who has moved to D.C. for work. It sounds like a great job in itself, but she is tired of hearing people around her spout anti-religion nonsense . She needs some Catholic networking, and I know you gals are connected. So volunteers please! Who wants to organize a Seraphic Singles meet-up in D.C.? I know the Catholic scene in D.C. is huge, but our girl hasn't found it yet.

Not sure how she hasn't found it because it's a bit ubiquitous! :) I can't volunteer to organize (mainly bc I'm working FT with grad school at night so am on a limited (read = nil) socializing budget, boo hiss!) but she should go to the Catholic Information Center webpage and look at the Young Professionals Program: http://www.cicdc.org/

From there, you just go to a couple events & it's like the ripple effect. You meet some people, who know other people, etc. GOOD LUCK!!

I'm in D.C. area -- is there an e-mail address this girl could be reached at? (I'd rather not give out mine here, since it includes my last name.)

I second checking out the CIC. Also Arlington diocese and D.C. diocese have a TON of young adult activities, and I believe both have facebook pages. St. Peter's on Capitol Hill and St. Matthew's in Dupont seem to have pretty active young adult groups in the city. There are theology on tap series in both D.C. and Arlington throughout the year.

If anyone is willing to contact this fellow reader by email, just write to me at seraphicsingles@yahoo.com.

I'm away at college presently, but am from the DC area and highly recommend she check out the "DC area Catholic Young Adults" page on Facebook. Also, the "Woodbridge Catholic Young Adults" page hosts many events each month.
I second Kate's suggestion to look at the Arlington Diocese- they have a plethora of events for both young adults and families. It's a solid diocese and there's always a lot going on!

I moved to DC two years ago knowing exactly one person in the city. When I moved away less than two years later, I left a solid group of Catholic kindred spirits and close friends. Finding Catholic friends in DC is actually really easy—there are so many in that city! Like the other commenters said, get thee to the Catholic Information Center. Their events are so much fun and lots of great people attend. Join the WITS club or attend the happy hours. And like the other commenters said, the DC and Arlington dioceses have a wealth of great activities. She has only to put out a little effort to get a great return!

I hear there's a new Juventutem chapter in DC if that's her bag -- I think they have twitter and facebook, dunno about a website.

I hate living in the DC area when I was in high school; unsurprisingly it's a really competitive environment. But now I could almost wish I lived there again because it seems like there is SO MUCH Catholic stuff going on.

I have been advocating for this for a long time, but with little success! I'd be happy to help organize a meetup. I'm not that well-connected in the Catholic circles yet myself (fairly new to the area + time-consuming job) so I'd love to meet new people too.

I'll email you separately, but if other readers want to meet up, I'd love to hear from them.

I'd totally be up for a meet-up too! I just moved to DC earlier this year and LOVE the area. It's surprising how easy it is to avoid whatever 'anti-religion nonsense' that's around. The Arlington Diocese is amazing and I always find myself overwhelmed by the number of young adult activities going on (there were 200[!]+ people at a local TOT recently).
